These five short stories or novellas were the true first printing of Stephen King's novel, "The Gunslinger," which was the first book in his The Dark Tower series. The complete novel was published in 1982 by Donald M. Grant. In 2003, Viking published an expanded and revised version of "The Gunslinger," dedicated to Edward Ferman, who was the editor of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction from 1964 to 1991.
